Meet the team: Lewis Dawkins, Commercial Implementation Engineer
December 15, 2025
Could you please tell us a bit about yourself, your background and your role at Dexory?
I’m 24 years old and have spent the last seven years working with and around robots. What started as a curiosity when I was a teenager turned into a passion for automation, engineering, and exploring how technology can reshape the world.
I enjoy working hands-on with robotic systems, overcoming technical challenges, and constantly learning new skills in a field that never stops evolving.
What are your primary responsibilities, and how does a typical day look for you?
As a Commercial Implementation Engineer, I am responsible for deploying and implementing our Dexory robot solutions at international client sites. My role involves travelling frequently for 1-2 week deployments, working closely with cross-functional teams, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
I ensure that systems are installed, configured, and operating reliably, while also providing on-site training and support to client staff.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career at Dexory?
If you’re considering a career at Dexory, I would say go for it!
Joining Dexory has been the best career decision I’ve ever made. I’m constantly growing, taking on new responsibilities, and enjoying every moment of the work. It’s exciting to be part of a team that’s truly transforming the logistics industry for the better.
Can you share a hobby or passion outside of work that influences your professional life?
Outside of work, I dedicate time to the gym, improving myself physically and mentally. This helps me build resilience, focus, and discipline; traits that carry over directly into my professional life, especially when facing challenging deployments or tight deadlines.

If Dexory robots could talk, what do you think they’d say about you and your work?
They’d say, ‘Look at those guns - human strength meets robot power. Nothing can stop this duo!’
What inspired you to get into your field of work?
I wanted to work in a field where I could have a real, meaningful impact. Robotics fascinated me because it’s not just about machines - it’s about improving processes, helping businesses operate more efficiently, and shaping the future of automation.
What’s a misconception people have about your role or industry?
A common misconception is that being “based” in the UK means my work is mostly local. In reality, my role involves frequent international travel, deploying robotic solutions across different countries, collaborating with diverse teams, and adapting to new environments on every project. Each deployment brings unique challenges and opportunities, making the work dynamic, exciting, and far from a 9-to-5 job.
What’s something about Dexory’s culture that surprised you when you joined?
What surprised me most about Dexory’s culture is how much of a “family” feel there is, despite being a fast-growing startup. Everyone is part of one big team, looking out for each other, sharing knowledge, and pushing one another to perform at their best every day. It’s collaborative, supportive, and incredibly motivating.
What’s the weirdest piece of advice you’ve ever received - and did it work?
Someone told me, “Robots have feelings too.” True or not, I whisper encouragement while troubleshooting… and it works…
