How Saddle Creek turned a high-volume multi-client hub into a real-time source of truth

The Benefit

Full name

Fostering an environment of open communication encourages team members to share their perspectives and insights, enhancing the overall quality of decision-making.

10% increase in inventory accuracy

Daily wall-to-wall ground truth across 1.1 million sq ft delivered a measurable improvement in inventory accuracy within the pilot period.

4% increase in putaway accuracy

Continuous scanning across rack, bulk and pick-face storage improved putaway precision across all client product types.

99%+ uptime and read accuracy

Consistent, reliable performance across a complex multi-client environment with dramatically different product types and storage configurations.

Teams redeployed from manual counting to higher-value work

Associates no longer spend their day on manual bin inspections, reassigned to higher-value tasks driven by real-time decision support.

Saddle Creek Logistics Services runs some of the most demanding operations in the supply chain. The omnichannel 3PL handles ecommerce and retail order fulfillment, warehousing, and transportation for a variety of clients who all expect total confidence in what's happening on their site, every time.

Their Joliet, Illinois facility is a good example of just how demanding. The  1.1 million sq ft multi-client site holds beer, pet food, furniture, herbal teas, baby food, bakery goods –  products that look nothing alike, move at different speeds, and sit across rack, bulk, and pick-face storage.

Saddle Creek wanted to address a challenge familiar to every 3PL: maintaining real-time confidence in site activity, at scale, without pulling the team away from higher-value work. In April 2026, they deployed DexoryView, Dexory's autonomous solution that scans the whole site daily and turns those scans into a real-time view of the operation, giving teams the visibility they need without the manual effort previously required. The results were strong enough that a three-month pilot is already being extended.

The challenge

Manually cycle counting a facility of this scale is difficult, with thousands of locations, multiple clients, and product profiles that vary from aisle to aisle. Saddle Creek set out to solve four things at once:

  • Improve real-time inventory visibility and accuracy: the company’s clients rely on real-time inventory data for capacity planning and broader strategic decision-making.
  • Automate counting: reduce the time and labor required for cycle counts while capturing richer, more detailed inventory data.
  • Handle real complexity: whatever they deployed had to work across dramatically different product types and storage configurations (rack, bulk, and pick-face) under one roof.
  • Keep operations running: the solution had to fit into a live warehouse environment with minimal disruption. It needed to be easy for associates to adopt, stay out of the way of daily workflows, and support the team rather than create extra work.

Getting it right creates value beyond Saddle Creek's own operations. Accurate inventory gives customers the confidence to plan capacity, manage replenishment more effectively, and provide their own customers with accurate, up-to-date information about product availability.

The solution

Saddle Creek deployed DexoryView. An autonomous mobile robot scans the entire site daily, rack and bulk in the same run, with zero disruption to live operations. But the robot is just the front end. The real value is what happens behind the scenes: every scan is turned into a real-time picture of the whole site, telling the team exactly where to act and what to prioritize next.

That means Saddle Creek's team can see, at a glance, whether space is being used efficiently, whether product is where it should be, and where attention is needed most, across every client in the building, without walking the floor to find out.

Configured to Saddle Creek's operation: The robot is mapped, scheduled, and configured around Saddle Creek's site priorities, so scans run on a defined cadence without constant manual intervention. As requirements change, the scan plan can be adjusted, giving the team consistent automation without losing operational control.

Why Saddle Creek chose Dexory:

  • A full-site view: daily wall-to-wall scans mean the data reflects the whole facility, not a slice of it, so decisions are based on what's actually happening now.
  • Live in weeks, not months: because DexoryView runs independently of the WMS, Saddle Creek didn't need to open an IT project to get value from it. The team was up and running fast, with nothing to integrate and nothing to wait on.
  • Runs itself once it's set: once mapped and scheduled, the robot operates on its own cadence. The team isn't managing a device; they're getting a steady stream of intelligence with almost no hands-on effort.

Deployment began in April 2026 as a three-month pilot at the Joliet hub.
