Frequently Asked Questions: What warehouse managers want to know before bringing robots into their spaces

July 2, 2026

Optimising operations with Dexory’s robots and automation systems often starts with many questions about the results warehouses can achieve, such as how they can reach 99.9% inventory accuracy, but also about our business model, support, integrations, and how the robots actually work. Together with our sales team in Europe and the USA, we reviewed the most frequent questions people have before deciding to work with Dexory.

As you plan for greater efficiency in 2026 to stay ahead of competitors, we hope these answers will help you make a faster, more informed decision about robots and the results you can achieve, as many of our customers around the world already have.

How is the data actually captured?

We use autonomous robots to physically scan the warehouse using advanced 3D cameras and LiDAR sensors. The robots’ mechanical towers can extend up to 18 m, and the cameras can scan multiple racks at a time. The images and 3D point cloud information are used to analyse the barcodes, size, and shape of each pallet in the warehouse, while the LiDAR sensors record data that helps measure the volume of each rack location. We can capture up to 250 TB of images and 2 TB of point cloud data per day.

After the warehouse is scanned, a digital twin of the space is created in DexoryView.

Does Dexory ONLY do inventory scanning?

Inventory scanning is a core component of our offering, enabling customers to achieve stock accuracy through a full stack combination of hardware (robots) and software, but it’s not the only function we perform.

The data our robots measure, count, and track is fed into DexoryView, our warehouse intelligence platform, to create a digital twin of your warehouse. Information is centralised in a visual dashboard that enables managers to track inventory, simulate layouts, detect issues early through continuous scans, and save costs associated with misplaced or lost products.

Overall warehouse operations are optimised through space reports, empty location assessments, consolidation opportunities, and capacity forecasting. Wasted space is eliminated, unnecessary movement is reduced, and smoother workflows are achieved.

Can the robots pick up pallets or products?

No. The robot is only used for scanning the warehouse; its extendable tower cannot pick up pallets.

Can the robots’ cameras be used for security purposes?

No. The cameras are only used to scan the warehouse and gather inventory data.

When does the robot run?

The robots are scheduled to run whenever it’s most suitable to each site and their operations. They  are autonomous, so they run autonomously when scanning, with no humans required to control them. We do provide training to your teams on how it operates and how it can be maintained, but they don’t need to run it manually.

Is it safe for the robot to run around people?

Yes. Dexory comes with a state-of-the-art perception system that uses machine learning to process information from all of the robot’s sensors, enabling safe detection of people, static and moving objects. Thus, the robots can avoid obstacles, go around or out of the way of colleagues or forklifts.

How fast does the robot work?

For a 10,000 pallet location warehouse, it takes around 1 hour to scan the entire space. For a 1 million sq ft warehouse, it takes approximately 10–15 hours, including charging time. The robots can scan at night and during weekends if your facility is not open 24/7.

Is it really fully autonomous?

Yes. The robot works fully autonomous, as you can see in this video demo. We are always happy to explain it further over a call.

Do you need to prepare your warehouse for the robots?

Bringing the robots into the warehouse is thought to be as smooth and non-disruptive as possible. There’s no need for any layout changes or wire guides. The robots are scheduled to perform their work safely and reliably, which means that we will collaborate to make sure the aisles and the entire space can be scanned (basic warehouse hygiene rules). In terms of storing it, we just need an area in the warehouse for the docking station and the robot to stay while charging.

Where do we use AI?

Dexory not only uses machine learning and computer vision to understand what the robot scans, but also for autonomy to identify and avoid obstacles (static and, most importantly, dynamic). However, AI is key to analysing and providing forecasting and simulation capabilities. The data can suggest operational improvements and efficiencies.

What ROI can you expect?

To calculate the economic impact of Dexory, you can use this calculator, or check out the Case Study section to learn how our customers have achieved:

  • 219% ROI in under 6 months
  • 75% reduction in error-related incidents
  • 10,000+ pallets scanned per hour

How long does it take for Dexory view to be up and running in your warehouse?

We move fast, so you can start optimising inventory management immediately. To deploy the robots and set up DexoryView, it can take 1-2 weeks.

Who in the company should manage the relationship with Dexory?

We provide a full stack solution - integrated hardware and software solution, so we typically work with multiple stakeholders within a warehouse, from C-level executives to Procurement, IT, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Operations teams. Once onboarded, you will have a dedicated customer success manager to support throughout and regular touch points with your sales owner throughout the relationship.

How do we integrate with your WMS?

As an end-to-end supplier, with our tech being API-based, we can integrate with all the required systems that bring in relevant data points to enrich the insights and analytics we offer our customers. Systems would include warehouse management systems (WMS), labour management, Business Intelligence tools, and order management systems.

How many robots do you need?

For any space of up to 1 million sq ft, you only need one robot. However, this also depends on how frequently you want the space scanned. For example, to scan a 2 million sq ft warehouse daily, you may need two robots.

Can you buy the robot?

We operate under a Raas (Robots as a Service) model, which means that we provide this technology through a standard subscription service to our customers. They pay a monthly fee to have access to the DexoryView platform, which provides different levels of access to the insights and advanced analytics, depending on the size of the warehouse, the size of the operation and the type of data and type of scans required.

How frequent does the robot have to go through maintenance?

Our newest robots are maintenance-free for up to eight years. They are monitored remotely 24/7, and if a fault occurs, one of our team members is alerted. Most issues can be resolved from a distance, but for more serious problems, we can be on site within 24-72 hours.

How is the cost calculated?

We use a RaaS pricing model and take into account factors such as the size of and the number of pallets stored in the warehouse. The solution is customised based on your specific needs.

We hope these answer most of your questions, and we are always here to discuss more. To see what we could do for you, please schedule a free demo with our team, here.
